Brunson Meat Co. Brings Chef-Crafted, Locally-Sourced Bacon to King Soopers and City Market Stores Across the Front Range

Denver, CO - October 22, 2024 - Brunson Meat Co., the new company founded by acclaimed Denver chef Justin Brunson, offering chef-approved dry-aged meats and bacon, is thrilled to announce its new partnership with Kroger’s King Soopers and City Market grocery stores. As of today, bacon enthusiasts across the Rocky Mountain Region can purchase Brunson Meat Co.'s premium, Colorado-sourced bacon at 147 King Soopers and City Market locations across the Rocky Mountain Region, including the Front Range.

At the stores, Brunson Meat Co. offers two signature bacon flavors - Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon and Sugar-Free Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon - in 12 oz packages for $8.99. Both varieties boast Brunson Meat Co.'s signature thick cut and are free from nitrites, nitrates, MSG, and preservatives.

The company’s bacon stands out for its exceptional quality and artisanal process. Starting with premium pork sourced from American farmers, primarily Seaboard Farms in Holyoke, CO, each cut is carefully hand-rubbed with a proprietary blend of salt, spices, and a natural curing mixture. The bacon then undergoes a slow smoking process using real applewood, infusing it with authentic, rich flavors. This methodical approach results in thick-cut bacon that's free from MSG, high fructose corn syrup, gluten, and tripolyphosphates. Brunson Meat Co. takes pride in being the only U.S. producer reviving intentional, artisanal food practices in bacon-making, truly redefining meat for the modern palate.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone for both Brunson Meat Co. and Kroger-owned King Soopers and City Market stores, showcasing their commitment to supporting local businesses and bringing high-quality, chef-driven products to consumers.

“This partnership represents a pivotal moment for our company, and we're excited to bring our passion for crafting exceptional bacon to even more people," says Brunson. "We're deeply grateful to see a large company like Kroger embracing a small, local business like ours. It's not just about expanding our reach; this collaboration allows us to share our dedication to quality, flavor, and supporting local farmers with a wider audience while proving that artisanal doesn't have to mean exclusive.”

Brunson, who started the company in 2022, launched with bacon as his first product before expanding into dry-aged meats. Local chefs took notice of the excellent bacon out of the gate, many putting it on their menus, including Coperta, Mercantile, New Belgium Brewery, Four Seasons, Kitchen Next Door, and 24 Carrot Bistro.

"What sets Brunson Meat Co.'s bacon apart is its perfect balance of smoke, salt, and sweetness," says Chef Paul C. Reilly of Coperta. "Its versatility in the kitchen makes it a standout for both professional chefs and home cooks alike, and the fact that they're working with responsibly raised pigs adds another layer of integrity to an already exceptional product."

The bacon is also currently being carried by local independent Denver-area grocers and specialty stores, including Marczyk Fine Foods, Leever's Locavore, Tony’s Meats, Lucky's, Heinie's Market, and can also be purchased through the Brunson Meat Co. website
